Engineered to Relieve Wind Pressure — Not Fight It
One of the biggest focuses during the AC Shade development process was preventing the canopy from behaving like a rigid sail in windy conditions.
The canopy itself was intentionally engineered to release pressure rather than build it. Its flexible structure and attachment method allow wind to pass through and around the system instead of forcing pressure directly into the frame or condenser.
Because pressure is not allowed to significantly accumulate, very little force is transferred into the frame itself.
The frame is then held securely to the condenser using strategically positioned all-weather bungee securement points designed to stabilize the system without placing harmful stress on the AC unit.
This combination of pressure relief, controlled flexibility, and secure attachment is one of the reasons AC Shade has performed so well in real-world outdoor conditions across the country.
Like any outdoor product, we still recommend temporarily removing AC Shade during extreme weather events — generally storms with names 😄 — but for normal thunderstorms, gusts, and everyday outdoor conditions, AC Shade has performed extremely well.
One of the advantages of AC Shade is that it installs and removes in under 30 seconds with no permanent modifications or fixtures attached to your equipment.
