Sizing Guide

How to Measure Your AC Unit for AC Shade

πŸ“Β Sizing Guide Mission

Choose the largest AC Shade size that is NOT larger than the width and length of your condenser top.

That’s it.
If it fits within the top in both directions, you’re good.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 1 β€” Measure the Top of Your AC Unit

Measure the outer flat top of your condenser.

β€’ Measure the width
β€’ Measure the length
β€’ Write down both numbers

πŸ‘‰ Use the smallest of the two measurements for sizing.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 2 β€” Pick the Right AC Shade Size

AC Shade sizes are based on the outer edge of the frame.

Available sizes:
20β€³, 22β€³, 24β€³, 26β€³, 28β€³, 30β€³, 32β€³, 34β€³, 36β€³ (even numbers only)

Rule:

Choose the largest size that is smaller than or equal to your smallest top measurement.

Example 1:

If your condenser top measures 34β€³ Γ— 37β€³
β†’ Choose AC34

All four sides of the frame will sit securely on the top.

Example 2 (Not Square / Tapered Units)

If the back width is 34β€³, the front width is 27β€³, and the length is 37β€³:

β†’ The smallest outer measurement is 27β€³
β†’ The largest even size that fits within 27β€³ is AC26

⚠ However β€” before ordering, check your fan grille diameter.

AC26 has a 24β€³ opening (model size βˆ’ 2β€³).
If your fan grille is larger than 24β€³, the AC26 may block airflow.

In that case, please email us with your measurements and a top-down photo so we can help confirm the correct size.

Always:
β€’ Size to the narrowest outer dimension
β€’ AND confirm the fan diameter fits within the opening

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Important

The inside opening is always 2β€³ smaller than the model size.

Example:
β€’ AC30 β†’ 30β€³ outer frame
β€’ Inside opening β†’ 28β€³

You do NOT need to calculate this β€” it’s built in.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 3 β€” Double-Check the Fan

If your fan grille is flat, slight overlap is okay.

If your fan grille is raised or domed, make sure:

Fan/Dome Diameter ≀ (Model Size βˆ’ 2β€³)

Example:
AC28 β†’ opening is 26β€³
As long as your dome is 26β€³ or smaller, you’re good.

We added the sizing calculator at the bottom to make things easier.

The guide above explains how sizing works step-by-step. The calculator simply applies those same rules to your measurements and gives you a quick confirmation.

It’s there to double-check your size and help you order with confidence.

AC Shade Size Calculator

If your fan is raised/domed, measure the widest point.
Rule used: We recommend the largest even AC size that fits within your smaller outer top dimension. Inside opening is 2" smaller than the AC model size.
